As most faculty and study abroad administrators in the U.S. know, study abroad is becoming a vital part of academic programs in American higher education. An overseas experience can give students an invaluable edge in this age of increasing globalization. Students learning in a different country develop a deeper commitment to education by immersing themselves in a motivating academic environment. They gain a deeper understanding of the world through extensive exploration of another culture.
ACCENT encourages program participants as well as program faculty to make their own discoveries while living overseas. In addition to academic and cultural studies, we emphasize practical learning that fosters confidence and independence. It is our hope that, bolstered by the structure and guidance offered by our specially trained staff, as well as the support from visiting faculty, participants will turn their international education experience into a time of great personal growth.
