| The ACCENT Rome Center is located in the beautiful Palazzo Bennicelli (also known as Banco di Santo Spirito) on the Piazza dell'Orologio. Piazza dell'Orologio, signalled by the impressive clock-tower by Borromini, is at the center of the ancient Via Papalis (the processional route connecting Saint Peter's to the Campidoglio) and is considered the very heart of Rome. Among the historical palaces of Piazza dell'Orologio there is a famous library called the Casa delle letterature or Biblioteca dell'Orologio which is the home of literature in the Eternal City. Together with cultural teachings, the library also promotes a vast array of regular services, i.e a room for reading periodicals and newspapers that is specialized in Italian and foreign literatures of the twentieth century. The streets surrounding the piazza are paved with cobblestone and the central location makes it an ideal base for both classes and as a jumping off point for on-site study visits. |
